The founder, William Snyder III, first learned about Rwanda in 2004, when a young Rwandan, Yohani Kayinamura, attended a Sunday service at Antioch International Church in State College, PA.
Prior to that, Snyder hadn't even heard of the country nor what had occured.
He was too young when the 1994 Genocide took place, and by the time he'd come of an age to understand, the story had quieted.
A year into his Master of Fine Arts degree, Snyder was moved with compassion to learn more of the Rwandan people, and angered at the autrocity which devistated the nation.
He then turned is artistic focus towards developing a work that would not only be creatively excellent, but would also meet the real needs of the people on the ground in Rwanda.
