Soon after, Snyder traveled to Rwanda to see what the land was like and to taste, first hand, what the atmosphere was in Rwanda.

Upon returning, he began to fully realize the project called:
800,000 Acknowledge.Remember.Renew. as a way to fully deal with the scope of the genocide and as a way to help move Rwanda into its future.

"The Lord loves the Rwandan people, and the project is a model of forgiveness, as a way to fully understand the genocide, memorialize those lost, and then turn towards renewal." - William Snyder, 2004
